Tour de Holland

Today we rode our bikes to Sneek, about 11 kilometers or 6.83 miles. Of course I rode the whole way in the wrong gear, and my legs were so tired by the time we got there!!! ( Just a little bike history for me: when I was about 12, I rode about 3 miles on a flat tire--I had no idea it was flat--I thought I was just really tired!!) I fixed the gear problem on the way back, which made for a much better return trip :)

Sneek (pronounced like snake) is a much larger city with more shops, restaurants, and a market. We spent the afternoon walking around, doing a little shopping, and enjoying refreshments on an outdoor patio. It was actually really nice today-75 and sunny--which felt more like 85 because it has been so chilly!

When we made it back to Bolsward, we rode downtown to see what was happening. There was a sand volleyball game taking place, so we stopped to watch for a little while. It was a really sad game, as they are not so competitive over here. If the ball was not in the direct area of a person, they just let it fall to the ground and gave the other team the point..so strange and un-American :)
